That is a question that has been plagueing me for some time now. As a former student of Media, I know that there are several levels of protected speech, but, that must have been an old model. These days, I can't speak openly, and freely of my God, but, Jo Blow over there can constantly talk about his sexual exploits with someone of the same sex, openly. Hmm? What's up with that? Who then really, has the freedom of speech in this case? Sure, not everyone is going to want to hear what he says, but, Heaven forbid we say anything to him for this. Then we are "Gay Bashing". Personally, I don't agree with homosexuality. In my opinion, it goes agains everything moral and decent, plus, the KJV of the Holy Bible clearly says that it is wrong. However, what you do is your own business. Just because we don't see eye-to-eye on some issues, doesn't mean that I hate you, or are attempting to "bash" you becuase I speak my mind and thoughts.

Every time that I read about the rights of a Christian getting trampled on for attempting to spread the Word of God, I can't help but think about what Rome must have been like. Well, think about it, today could be considered similar. Christians are captured by Roman guards (police) for spreading the Word openly to the people. The are arrested and placed in jail (collaseum), they stand trial (does the Roman ruler let them go...Judge, Ceasar?), and they are sentenced (death).

Now don't get me wrong. I am not "Gay Bashing" on here. As a matter of fact, two of my closer friends live this alternate lifestyle, so stop right there if you are thinking that this is an attempt to bash. I only want a simple question answered. What is freedom of speach? Who does it apply to?

Follow the Bouncing Nose!!!

All right...been way too long since the Deacon has update his blog...but, hopefully things are going to change about that.

Finally, there is an end to the Freak Show...as anyone who is alive knows by now, a jury of 12 of MJ's peers (I really want to know where they found 12 other freaks like him...maybe from Uranus or something) acquited the freak on all 14 (10 major and the 4 lesser) counts. Don't you love how the term innocent was never used to apply to MJ? Come on. How many of you watch WWE RAW last night? Even they know that the freak should have gotten to spend some time in a big house with other "Innocent" guys, who would treat him just the way that he would treat a little kid (Read: break out the vasoline, we're starting a jiffy lube). A rough quote was that Kurt Angle "got by with more with HHH's wife than MJ did"...

Like I left in the comment for the Rev, MJ "could" have been "not guilty" this time, but, going by the past and what all the jurors could have considered, there has definately beens something going on, and I've always been told, where there is smoke, there is fire....

DEACONS FINAL THOUGHTS: If the old saying of where there is smoke, there is fire, then Michael Jackson is a pedophile flamer...Can I hear an Amen from the congregation?

Today's Movie Quote!

Here you go boys and girls.....

a)Do you want to go first? b)No, I don't want to go first. a)Ok, I'll go first. b)No, I don't want to go second.

Movie Quote of the Day!

***OK, since no one wanted to take the time to look this up or whatever, the answer is Wild, Wild West***

OK...here is a new feature to the Front.....Movie Quote of the Day!
Here's how it works....I will post a quote from a movie...you all guess what it is...if you are the winning guesser, you win.............absolutely nothing...that's right....nada, zero, zilch....nothing.........so, reply to this post with your guess and we'll go from there!

Today's Quote:

1: She's really a breath of fresh ass. 2: What? 1: What. 2: You said she was a breath of fresh ass. 1: I did not! LOL.....actually, there have been some interesting news items in the past couple of days....anyone see where in Virginia, the state senate voted and passed on a bill that will find anyone whose pants are bagging down and they are showing their undergarments in a way that is meant to be "cool" and the "in thing" $50 per offense? Man, I wish we could get some bills like that around here...I am so sick of seeing these peoples underwear....Kudos to Virginia for being ballsy enough to take the first step of this...But, of course they are coming under fire from minority groups claiming discrimination....however, the two leading men on the bill are both the same minority! You can get the full story here.........Also, pay attention to the last few lines of this article....Since when is showing someone your underwear an expression of free speech? I guess a cheetah never loses is spots...for this reason, I guess he will forever be the flip-flopper that we all have come to know and tolerate....

My Leadership Role has Been Stolen.....(aka Yay!)

Well, my move into the leadership role of the Church has been stripped away by the powers that be...Obviously, the Rev will not be leaving now since the beam has been removed from mine enemies eyes...It also appears as if there will be a bit of a surprise next Monday morning....

This morning when I came in, there was an e-mail in my inbox informing of a new incentive this month pertaining to our hold times....if we hold the appropriate time, our supervisor will pay for our lunch one day, as well as give us two hours off from the phone while he takes calls...while this would be rather funny, who really cares? I mean, personally, I think that it is safe to go ahead and bet on who will be the winner of this thing...I will let you know if I am wrong...I promise....... I don't know what is wrong with the Deacon today...I think that he is feeling slightly jaded or something...very spiteful today and certain people are really getting on my last nerve...

Has anyone out there felt alone even among friends? Dysfunction, I shall assume his responsibilities here at the Home Front, by leading the flock into further dysfunction...while I know that there is a pretty large Clergy Coller to fill, I feel as if I am up to the responsibility that will come with this level of prominence...Of course, the Rev. is aware of my intents and knows that upon his return, I will relinquish my position...I type='text'>Tips from the Front!

OK, enough of the serious stuff this week...let's take a look at some light-hearted stuff now....

As many of you "guys" know, it is in our genes to have a little reading material in our "office" (aka "The John")...Now the other night, ole' Deacon almost killed himself with his reading material...The Deacon's wife Tally went to bed a bit earlier than I cared to...so, I though this would be a great time to catch up on some of my reading...so, as to not bother her with the light on, I stepped into my "office" and sat down to read...after roughly 20 minutes my feet were missing, even though I could see them....no feeling whatsover...so, I got the bright idea to go ahead and attempt to stand up..big mistake...my feet starting sliding on the carpet and I got all turned around and ended up leaning up against the glass shower door with all of my weight...fo those of you who know the Deacon, that is some pressure on the door.....finally, I was able to get twisted around enought to fall on the floor.....

Moral of the story: Don't use the bathroom as your primary reading room...accidents can happen...LOL Everyone, have a great weekend.
It is almost good to see this piece of news...I am at least glad to see capital punishment back in topic...While this was a firestorm several years ago, recently it seems as if it has slipped into the backwaters of news rooms...This should be an interesting issue to both sides of the debate as well...

I myself am a supporter of capital punishment (but, not die-hard...I still believe that there should be conditions)......I believe that if you have at least two witnesses who can positively identify you as the culprit, that that should be the end of the discussion...simply choose which method of death...also, I beleive that we should put an end to these 11 year death sentences.....if you're going to kill them, kill them...quit dragging it out because it is only costing the tax payers more money....As with other posts of mine, I know that their are going to be people who want to blast me for this, but, like I have always said, this is only MY opinion...as a matter of fact, I like to hear others thoughts on what I post, but for the life of me, why do my thoughts make me stupid and idiotic? Apparently, there are people out there who think that those of us who don't see eye-to-eye with each other makes the other person stupid, crazy, just plain dumb, and/or automatically not like you.....my words for these type of people: GROW UP!

Church and state: Should be hand-in-hand

For all of those of us out there who though that we would never hear any good news like this, read this article Finally, an actual Supreme Court Justice has publically announced that the courts are taking God out of public life...Can we vote for this guy as President next time around? It is about time that we see more of our political figures actually mentioning God and not being too afraid of what constituents will think...Now sure, I know that there will be public outcry from some of the cretins out there asking how you can have separation of Church and State when a Supreme Court Justice makes statements like that...For that answer, lets look at my "personal" opinion on this....Supreme Court Justices are not just someone from off of the street that the President selects as a Justice...rather, they are highly educated judges with years of experience on the bench, these people know the laws and the constitution...so, I don't think that any Justice would risk their reputations on loose interpretations of the constitution and what it says about religion....

Also, as the article goes on to state, in early March, the Supreme Court will hear two cases involving the rights to post the 10 Commandments....makes one feel a little better knowing that there is someone like Scalia on the bench who will be making moral rulings rather than attempting to win a popularity contest...Maybe finally, they will find that people do not have to look at and/or read something that they claim is offensive to them...I just wonder, what would happen if Christians started complaining about the show "Queer Eye"...to me that is offensive, so therefor I do not watch...would they rule that their can be nothing on t.v. pertaining to "sinful" living? No, as the majority, they would simply state that I don't have to watch, and this is if they would even hear a case like that....I think that we need more Justices like Scalia in there and maybe there would be a chance at saving this world before it is too late.

Hillary is at it again!

For full story, click here.

OK...here is anther sticky subject that the Deacon is speakin on...Abortion...Now someone correct the deacon if he is incorrect, but does it seem as if the Dems are starting to cross the fence into the greener pasture's? Let's see, Mrs. Clinton did nothing to attempt to stop abortions when she served her 8 years.....however, with the whole issue of morals winning this past election for the Republicans, it seems as if HIllary is attempting to change her "spots" in preparation for her next presidential bid....To the best of my remembrance, the Clinton admin openely supported abortion as well as Gore's bid for president following in Clinton's footsteps....

On a side note, watching t.v. last night, I came accross a collectible knife show on the smokey mountain knife....I highly recommend that you check out this site. But, I'm not trying to stir up trouble with this post...

On my way in to work this morning, the radio show was discussing the importance and the excitement of today inaugural festivities...the placing of the hand on the Holy Bible, and the swearing/confirming to defend the constitution AND the "so help me God" (which, as a rule was not part of the constitution, just something that George Washington himself added and EVERY President so far has failed to include)...but they posed a question...As Commander-in-chief, Bush has a lot of things in his hands and a lot of promises to attempt to live up to...but, what do we as Americans have to do? Just sit around on our little blogs and either criticize the President, or talk about who would have been a better choice to run this nation? I say Nay, Nay...what we should all be doing (thanks to Doug and Kim for the inspiration) at precisely noon today, we as Americans should everyone (different religions and atheists included because I'm sorry, you are living in a country that is founded on Christianity)should place their hands on a Holy Bible and take an oath that we will also defend America (rather than tear at it's seams)...another part of that oath should be that we stand beside of our President..not behind him waiting to stab him in the back...think about it, what would be said if everyone who voted against Bush this past election was sent to live "permanently" in another country...STAND BEHIND YOUR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF......

To close out my little tirade, pray, pray for our troops, pray for out leaders who are making all the critical decisions...just pray...

Let Bush Celebrate!

More on the Bush Inaugaration...click here for the full story.....

Once again (or, shall I say, still) Bush is in the hot seat over the inagauration ball...and once again, the question as to whom is paying for it is rising...according to Reuters, private donations are comprising the vast majority of the $40 million dollar gala, but, many out there would lead us to believe that the city of DC would be responsible for the vast majority...(I know, I know, they are responsible for part of the expenses, but please, don't try telling everyone that "poor DC citizens are paying for the even")...people are attempting to get the event "scaled down" and let the money go for other things....Hang on...the money is being donated...who says that the people donating the money want it to go to something else? I mean, if I were donating money to someone for a specific thing and then that person took the money, and did something else with it, I don't think that I would appreciate that very much...Bottom line for this is...."man, give it a rest"...He won, now let him celebrate the victory...do you really think that Kerry would do anyting differently? Atheists are complaining because President Bush will have an inaguaration prayer...last time that I checked, the President can do whatever he wants to do, especially considering that this is not a government sponsored event...just check out the other blogs out there and/or news sources to see where people are complaining about the event costing $40 million (which, is privately being paid for by lobbyists and private groups)...Sounds to me as if these atheists (hereto after SHOULD be known as Heathens, but, wouldn't want to step on toes now would I) are complaining about the exact same rights that we give them...do we tell them that they can't NOT believe in God when they are at a private party? I don't think so...So, why do they think that the President shouldn't be allowed to have a prayer at his private party? Are the atheists afraid that they might hear/see/feel something that would change their lives? Are they questioning whether or not they really are atheists and are afraid that actually hearing a prayer will change thier minds? What may I ask is the big deal with prayer? If you don't believe you don't beleive, but just because you don't, DO NOT try to tell me that I can't.

Here is the best part though: "The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals (news - web sites) ruled in 2003 that Newdow did not suffer "a sufficiently concrete and specific injury" when he opposed prayers from being recited at Bush's first inauguration.

Newdow — arguing his case via telephone conference hookup from California — said his case is different this time because he actually has a ticket to attend the inauguration. That atmosphere, he said, is more coercive than four years ago, when he planned to watch the ceremony on television." OK, does he have to go? NO! Just because I have a ticket doesn't mean I HAVE to go, I may want to go, but definately do not have to...This is almost like me getting a ticket to go watch a movie, then attempt to ban parts of the movie because they say the "F" word, or show too much sexual scenes...how far do think that would go? Like I said, I have the option to either go or not...no one is forcing me to place myself in a situation that I might feel uncomfortable...is President Bush holding a gun to this man's head forcing him to attend? Tell you what, if you don't want to subject yourself to hear a prayer, mail me your ticket, I'll take it........

2000 Hits and still going strong!!!!

Thanks to everyone who has visited this site, even if just surfing through for the minimum 30 seconds...you have helped me reach a number higher than I would have imagined rougly a month ago...So thank you, with a special thanks for you repeat visitors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The Deacon be Speakin'!!!!

What is up with some people? As some of you may have noticed, yesterday I made a post with a humerous little "You might be a liberal" thing...However, some people out there had issues with this...not because they were offended at what I have posted, but because I borrowed it from another blog out there....Now, how many of us have ever done that? Let he who is without sin cast the first stone! Almost every blog out there that I have surfed through and read has had at least one post that was copied from somewhere else...the worst thing though, is that I went far enought that I actually referenced the blog witha link back to the blog that it came from....were they offended by the Deacon? I don't know...but if they were, I sure do hope that they aren't expecting an apology...if they are, they are not getting it...

Now for those of you out there who posted back in approval, I thank you....

You Might Be A Liberal

Saw this while surfing through BE and couldn't pass up on this...This came from archangel and I just had to incorporate that into my blog.....

You Might Be A Liberal ...

You Might Be A Liberal If:
1) You think that protestors outside nuclear power plants are dedicated activists, but protestors outside abortion clinics are dangerous zealots interfering with a legal activity.
2) You believe that even though the top 20 percent of taxpayers pay 80 percent of income taxes, that the rich are not paying their fair share.
3) You believe in global warming today just as firmly as you believed in global cooling back in the 1970s.
4) You mentally subtract 100 points from someone's IQ if the person speaks with a Southern accent.
5) You are dedicated to helping the poor, the downtrodden and the less fortunate, but you have never given blood.
6) You have no problem with Hollywood movie stars flying around in private jets to give speeches on the evils of SUVs.
7) You deplore prejudice and bigotry in all its forms, but think that everyone in the "red states" is an idiot.
8) You are worried about how the French view Americans.
9) You believe that nativity scenes should be banned from public view, but that anyone objecting to pornography only has to look the other way.
So, do you qualify? How about some HUNGER relief!

OK...from BE it seems everywhere you look you are going to see either a link to or an icon to click in order to either donate or get information on donating to the Tsunami Relief...I admit that this was terrible tragedy that struck and they are going to be feeling the effects of this way into the future...however, how many of these people that are getting "active" in the relief effort actually stay that way...Think about it...every year, children in the U.S. suffer from hunger and disease...and this is in our back yard...with the exception of one or two blogs, I have yet to see anyone making much of a sensation due to this, and this is in our back yards....sure, this is happening in other countries and it is a big deal, but God forbid we pay attention to something like this that happens in our own country, or state, or town, or community, or even across the street from us...I think that everyone who has hopped on the "bandwagon" for the tsunami releif should mandatorally have to post buttons to click on for "Feed the Hungry in the U.S.".....now a lot of people will say that "those bums should get a job" or something to that effect...but, what I am talking about are the children...the ones who aren't old enough to get a job, the one's whos parents spend the money for drink and drugs, the ones who have no voice in anything, and even if they did, it would not be heard...So, before you click the button to donate to tsunami relief (which is a good thing by the way) think about the next time that you see an advertisement or a donation "jug" requesting spare change to feed hungry children in America, and ask yourself if you would give to them...or, volunteer your time to work at a shelter for a few days.....

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://brianpeck.blogspot.com/2005/01/tsunami-relief-how-about-some-hunger.html' title='Tsunami Relief?????? And we offer our sustained compassion and generosity as the people of the devastated region begin to rebuild."

The administration's pledge of $350 million — which Bush called only an "initial commitment" and is essentially a line of credit that can be spent as American relief officials identify needs — ranks fourth behind Australia, Japan and Germany.]

Now the U.S. has taken a lot of heat lately for being so "stingy" as to not dole out everything we have...Let's think about this for just a moment...How does Bush win in this lose/lose situation? Dems are screaming about the national debt and ways to reduce this, however, there are going to be several out there who will throw up the fact that we should have spent more in this effort...but, 2 months from now, they will be screaming over the fact that we sent what we sent....obviously, Bush is in a no win scenario...people condemns him if he don't, then condemns if he doesn't...case in point, everyone though that we were going to send aid, Bush was slammed for it, then when we do, he gets slammed because it was less than 3 other countries (and this was just an initial installment)....

Ok, the Deacon is done....LOL....take me as you will...but, I feel the way that I feel as everyone of you who read this do...curse me, hate me, block me, trash me, leave all sorts of negative comments, but keep in mind the Golden Rule (of blogging?): Do unto others as you would have others do unto you...See you all on Monday!

Who is a Minister

OK, I'm out of super ideas on posts for the moment...however, last night, my wife and I were discussing that the popularity of The Front has started to increase and she informed me to keep in mind that this could end up being a ministry....which prompted me to really think about who/what a minister is....My father has asked numerous times while we were at churches singing for the congregation to raise their hand if they were a minister...usually, you would have 2-3 people raise their hands (except for the band members and those who had seen dad ask the question before)...dad will normally ask roughly 3-4 times before everyone catches on that we are all minister whether we know it or not....Anything that we do to lift up the Word is a form of ministry....even the smallest thing that you may do, can be considered a ministry....from testifying in church to singing hymns outside of church is a ministry...so, be careful what you may say and/or do because there is always someone watching you waiting to catch you doing something that you shouldn't be...which isn't really a bad thing...just make sure that your light is shining brightly and not being put out.......
<img width='1' height='1' The Front under investigation? LOL Hmmm? Could be...For those of you out there who do not already know...News from the Front began before Christmas as a way that we help desk techs could releive a little stress...Our bay began putting up some personal decorations...all of a sudden, the bay across from us brought in more...so, we decided that we would have a little "war" between us...eventually, we went so far as to draft up "documents of war, cease fire, etc."...so, that may set anyone's mind to ease...

Will post again later on.......

In Defense of the Dysfunctional Church

Over the past several days, I have notice that Rev. No, I respect your right to post whatever you want...If I don't agree I just don't read through it, or if I totally disagree with it, I will just mark your page so that I won't have to view it again.....So, blast me if you will, I don't really care.....But, before you start blasting away at people, has that person blasted you and your thoughts/comments/ideas?

Todays Debate: Religion vs. Evolution

This is a topic that every high school student in America has had to deal with....did God speak us into existance, or, is their something to this whole theory of evolution...The Bible clearly tells us that God made man in his own image from dust and breathed the breath of life into that still form...but, how can we deny the fact that evolution exists? We see it happen nearly every day in some form...bottle neck breeding of dogs to get a certain color or size, fossil records of creatures that no longer walk the earth, and numerous other examples....who says that you can't have it all? Think about it...who says that God himself can't make these changes in animals? You see, this debate is like eating two steaks...you trim the fat off from them (fat being the major issues of the two topics [personally, I do not believe that humans descended from a monkey-like creature]) and only ingest that which is good.......

Now for the whole dinosaur issue...I have a theory that may very well be far out there, but, God created Heaven and Earth in six days and on the seventh he rested....How much time actually passed between the 1st day of creation and the seventh? A literal seven days? How about this...later in the Bible, it states that to God, a day could be as a thousand years or a thousand years as a day...Just something to think over...I will gladly appreciate comments, type='text'>Today's Rant

OK...last night, my wife and I both ran out of cigarettes so we had to make a trip to the store...While in the store, I went to the back and picked up a couple of soft drinks and headed to the front of the store...checking out were these three people...one of them kept asking Tammy (the clerk) how much 4 packs of Marlboro's were going to be, and then proceeded to ask if they accepted coupons...Tammy told her that yes they did and asked what teh coupon was for...the lady then told her that it was $5.00 off on a carton OR $5.00 off from 4 packs...as a long-time smoker of Marlboro brand, and having recieved numerous coupon offers, never have I recieved a coupon offering that much savings.....but the kicker to all of this....they didn't even have the coupon with them for the store to honor......I sometime greatly dislike stupid people.....

Over the past week, I have been considering a re-structure to the page...when I first started this thing, I had utmost intentions of this being my form of therapy for putting up with obnoxious callers all day, however, I managed to stray from it...so over the next week or so, those of you who read this thing will notice that changes will occur....it will remain "News from the Front" but, the Front has changed...it is my goal to focus more on my life as a Christian and the battles that we all have...I will make an attempt to post again later today and will welcome any comments that you may have and/or suggestions........
Birth Defects and Disease

Last night, Tally and I were watching discover health channel where they were doing radical surgeries...The first program was on children who were born with scolio and with debilitating birth defects....Tally often wonders why I am so reluctant to have children....watching shows like that aren't helping things either...To let everyone in a little secret of mine, I was born cleft lip and palatte, which is a rather unpleasant affliction to be born with...while mine was by no stretch as bad as others out there, it is still enough to make one question having children....that is my biggest fear...no child deserves to have to grow up with any sort of disability or handicap....if my child was born the same way that I was, even though with surgery they would be able to lead a normal life, and probably even hide the fact they were born that way, it is still an emotional kick to the child when children make fun of them.....For me, they did the basic surgeries on me while I was still young, prior to age 3-4.....however, the visible signs that something was wrong was still present...all through my elementary school years, I had to listen to repeated "flat nose"'s and hey, did someone hit you in the nose...while this caused no physical pain to me, it scarred emotionally....there were times that I just had to question why I had to be born different...what did I do to deserve this....Because of this, I just don't want to run the risk of my child having to cry themselves to sleep at night wondering what they did wrong, or what Mommy and Daddy did to make them that way.........I still question whether or not I would even make a good father, but, I do know that it kills me inside to see children who are born with birth defects, children who have childhood cancer, or anything along those lines......
<img width='1' height='1' have spoken with Emporer Joe only once or twice since prior to Christmas...My advisors have informed me that a declaration of war should be sent to England, so, I will put Rev. > >
>> > > It's just a small, white envelope stuck among the branches of our
>> > > Christmas tree. No name, no identification, no inscription. It
>> > > has peeked
>>through
>> > > the
>> > > branches of our tree for the past 10 years or so.
>> > >
>> > > It all began because my husband Mike hated Christmas. Oh, not the
>> > > true
>> > > meaning of Christmas, but the commercial aspects of it. Overspending
>>--
>> > > the
>> > > frantic running around at the last minute to get a tie for Uncle
>> > > Harry
>>and
>> > > the dusting powder for Grandma -- the gifts given in desperation
>>because
>> > > you
>> > > couldn't think of anything else.
>> > >
>> > > Knowing he felt this way, I decided one year to bypass the usual
>>shirts,
>> > > sweaters, ties and so forth. I reached for something special just
>> > > for Mike. The inspiration came in an unusual way.
>> > >
>> > > Our son Kevin, who was 12 that year, was wrestling at the junior
>> > > level
>>at
>> > > the school he attended, and shortly before Christmas, there was a
>> > > non-league match against a team sponsored by an inner-city
>> > > church, mostly black. These
>> > > youngsters, dressed in sneakers so ragged that shoestrings seemed to
>>be
>> > > the
>> > > only thing holding them together, presented a sharp contrast to
>> > > our
>>boys
>> > > in
>> > > their spiffy blue and gold uniforms and sparkling new wrestling
>> > > shoes.
>>As
>> > > the match began, I was alarmed to see that the other team was
>>wrestling
>> > > without headgear, a kind of light helmet designed to protect a
>>wrestler's
>> > > ears. It was a luxury the ragtag team obviously could not afford.
>>Well,
>>we
>> > > ended up walloping them, taking every weight class. As each of
>> > > their
>>boys
>> > > got up from the mat, he swaggered around in his tatters with
>> > > false bravado, a kind of street pride that couldn't acknowledge
>> > > defeat.
>> > >
>> > > Mike, seated beside me, shook his head sadly, "I wish just one of
>> > > them
>> > > could
>> > > have won," he said. "They have a lot of potential, but losing like
>>this
>> > > could take the heart right out of them." Mike loved kids -- all
>> > > kids
>>--
>> > > and
>> > > he knew them, having coached little league football, baseball and
>> > > lacrosse.
>> > >
>> > > That's when the idea for his present came. That afternoon, I went
>> > > to
>> > > a
>> > > local
>> > > sporting goods store and bought an assortment of wrestling headgear
>>and
>> > > shoes and sent them anonymously to the inner-city church. On
>> > > Christmas
>> > > Eve,
>> > > I placed the envelope on the tree, the note inside telling Mike what
>> > > I
>>had
>> > > done and that this was his gift from me. His smile was the
>> > > brightest
>>thing
>> > > about Christmas that year and in succeeding years.
>> > >
>> > > For each Christmas, I followed the tradition -- one year sending
>> > > a
>>group
>> > > of
>> > > mentally handicapped youngsters to a hockey game, another year a
>> > > check
>>to
>> > > a
>> > > pair of elderly brothers whose home had burned to the ground the
>> > > week before Christmas, and on and on.
>> > >
>> > > The envelope became the highlight of our Christmas. It was always
>> > > the
>>last
>> > > thing opened on Christmas morning and our children, ignoring
>> > > their
>> > > new
>> > > toys,
>> > > would stand with wide-eyed anticipation as their dad lifted the
>>envelope
>> > > from the tree to reveal its contents. As the children grew, toys
>> > > gave
>>way
>> > > to
>> > > more practical presents, but the envelope never lost its allure.
>> > >
>> > > We lost Mike last year to cancer. When Christmas rolled around, I
>> > > was still so wrapped in grief, I barely got the tree up. But
>> > > Christmas Eve found
>>me
>> > > placing an envelope on the tree, and in the morning, it was
>> > > joined by three more.
>> > >
>> > > Each of our children, unbeknownst to the others, had placed an
>>envelope
>>on
>> > > the tree for their dad. The tradition has grown and someday will
>>expand
>> > > even
>> > > further with our grandchildren standing around the tree with
>> > > wide-eyed
>> > > anticipation watching as their fathers take down the envelope. Mike's
>> > > spirit, like the Christmas spirit, will always be with us.
>> > >
>> > > May we all remember Christ, who is the reason for the season, and
>> > > the
>>true
>> > > Christmas spirit this year and always.
>> > >
All is Quiet on the English Front...a little too quiet...

It has been 4 days now and we haven't seen any signs of the English....Emporer Joe and his mini minion Mike have been relatively scarce as of late....intelligence reports that the possibility of hostile actions will probably come sometime after the Holiday weekend, however, the Allied Forces are keeping alert for the possibility of a rogue attack......On the Cretin front, it seems as if Operation Deck the Halls was a huge success...we have yet to see any type of retaliation, and we have managed to improve our stronghold in our decisive decorations....personally, I think that it is the Nativity scene that my secret santa brought in that finally broke them...

As the Christmas Holiday draws on us, it is important that we remember what the true meaning of the season is...for some of us, we celebrate the birth of the one true Savior, and too often, this fact is overlooked as we bustle around buying gifts to give to our loved ones......Just remember, that their is a reason for the season when you are scurrying about doing that last minute shopping....
So far, so good.....

Today has been relatively calm...not much call volume and no reports at all on the war....Spoke with Emporer Joe a bit this morning....I managed to drop off my secret santa gift this morning....I found one place that is actually a war zone here lately, and that is Walmart...tried to do some christmas shopping last night for the First Lady, and man, those people would kill you in a heartbeat to get the stuff that you searched for hours to find out of your buggy...You would almost have to fear for your life...LOL...As Christmas draws nearer, a feeling of calm has came over both the French and U.S. troops on the Cretin front...commrodore is the feeling between the two countries as secret santa's descend upon us all the Christmas spirit...good friends, good times is what we are all experiencing now.....

As most of you definately know, those of us at war work at a call center...we work in support of Nextel employee's computer related issues...sometimes this job will really get to you and just knock you flat on your butt from the monotony, plus the attitudes that some of these people will copp on you....they blame you for everything that goes wrong with their computer and all that you can really do is pat them on the back and try to make them feel better....after so long of putting up with that kind of crap, it really brings you down to the point where you absolutely hate dealing with these people...so for those of you who may read these posts and think that I/we are moronic, this is the way that we keep our sanity....
The new look of this blog...WAR!!!!!

As some of you may have read alread on Emporer Joe's blog, a war has been declared between two bays (countries) where we work...Originally, the war was between the U.S. and France...however, we felt as if we should attempt to bring an alliance to our two countries in defense against the threat of attack from Crete.....our alliance went into effect yesterday, and today was the first full day of skirmishes between the coalition and the Cretins....We felt that our blows against the Cretins today, while significant, needs to be further escalated over the next several days....As of 15:00, operation "Deck the Halls" (DTH) has began....Additional propoganda shall be posted as deemed appropriate.........

Conditional Cease Fire

We, the Provincial Government of Telecommunications Bay 17A (herein known as the “United States”), hereby propose a CONDITIONAL CEASE FIRE between the Peoples Republic of Telecommunications Bay 18B (herein known as “France”).

It is the intention of the United States Government to work together, “hand-in-hand”, with the French Government to execute “Operation: Dirty Bells” (herein known as “ODB”).

It is proposed that the two Governments (known herein collectively as “The Allied Forces”) will work together to decorate their bays in a fashion that is better than that of the Socialist Confederacy of Telecommunications Bay 18A (herein known as “Crete and the Cretins”).

The moderator of this agreement has been chosen to be the Leader of Telecommunications Bay 17B (herein known as “NATO”, or “Becky”).

The only condition of this Cease Fire is you must make your decision within 30 minutes to agree or disagree with this agreement. If you choose to ignore this agreement, we shall load our cannons and point them toward your shipping port.

Signed:

Brian Peck, President

John Wright, Vice president

Dimebag Darrell....

I know, most everyone has already featured an article on this on their blog several days ago, the day after this horrific event to be more precise...but, I too have to make my statement concerning the political influences of this....To start with, although I wasn't a "fan" of dimebag, but anyone who has a line of guitars named after them automatically has earned my respect...but, what do we do as a society when our "idols" are murdered such as this? First, we can all post our sympathies and obituaries on our blogs and talk about how great the person was, etc...but, what about the guilty party who pulls the trigger? In this case, that person has already recieved his just reward, but, what about those who do not meet that end? Let's say that I go out and shoot Slash because I felt that he was responsible to the break-up and G-n-R? More than likely, the first thing that a lawyer would tell me was that I was temporarily insane....However, is it insanity for me to put my gun in the car and drive to whereever he would be playing that night, open the trunk, get the gun out and walk in and shoot him? Sounds like a half-way thought out plan to me....temporary my foot......but with today's society, that is the way that things are going these day......What is everyone's thoughts on this?

"Holy Grail" of Christmas gifts....

So, now that we are less than two weeks away, what is everyone's Christmas wish list? When the usher came by and noticed this, he whispered to the man, "Sorry, sir, but you're only allowed one seat." The man groaned but didn't budge.

The usher became impatient. "Sir, if you don't get up from there I'm going to have to call the manager." Again, the man just groaned, which infuriated the usher who turned and marched briskly back up the aisle in search of his manager.

In a few moments, both the usher and the manager returned and stood over the man. Together the two of them tried repeatedly to move him, but with no success.

Finally, they summoned the police. The cop surveyed the situation briefly then asked, "All right buddy, what's your name?" "Sam," the man moaned. "Where ya from, Sam?" With pain in his voice Sam replied "The balcony."

New of the Weird!

Here is Thursday's dose of Weird News!

Celebrity Nativity Scene Draws Ire in U.K.

By ALFRED de MONTESQUIOU, Associated Press Writer

LONDON - Christian leaders on Wednesday denounced a Nativity scene at a London wax museum featuring soccer star David Beckham and his wife Victoria, a former Spice Girl, as the parents of Jesus.

The waxwork tableau at Madame Tussauds museum included U.S. President George W. Bush (news - web sites) as one of the three Wise Men, actors Hugh Grant and Samuel L. Jackson as shepherds and Australian disco diva Kylie Minogue as an angel.

"There is a well-understood tradition that each generation interprets and reinterprets the Nativity ... but, oh dear!" said the Rev. Jonathan Jenkins, spokesman for the archbishop of Canterbury, who leads the world's 77 million Anglicans.

At the Vatican (news - web sites), a spokesman said it was unacceptable to have celebrities representing Jesus, Joseph or Mary.

The spokesman mentioned the tradition in Naples of using celebrities such as Argentine soccer star Diego Maradona, but never as one of the principal figures. "This means that the crib can be lived as something that's contemporary. But the central mystery must be respected," said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Madame Tussauds said it had respected this tradition, using a plastic doll in the manger. The other characters, it said, had been chosen in a public vote that drew 300 ballots.

"We're sorry if we have offended people," said Diane Moon, a spokeswoman for the museum, who said it was intended in a spirit of fun.

The scene also features British Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites) and Prince Philip as Wise Men, and flamboyant talkshow host Graham Norton as a shepherd.

Arum Kataria, a spokesman for the Church of England, was unimpressed by Madame Tussauds' exhibit.

"The eternal story of Jesus will last a lot longer than these waxworks or the celebrities in it," he said.

Glutton for Punishment....

OK, I know, I complain about my job sometimes and even claim to hate it, but how bad can you hate something when you volunteer for punishment by working overtime....so, far, I have worked my normal shift, plus, worked through lunch and am starting on 2 hours overtime on top of that...so, call me a glutton...do I love my job? When they placed a bowl on top of the sand it was engulfed.

The same condition, a type of dry quicksand, could evolve in nature from the sedimentation of very fine sand after it has been blown into the air. If it was large enough it could be dangerous to humans, according to the scientists.

"Indeed, reports that travelers and whole vehicles have been swallowed instantly may even turn out to be credible in the light of our results," the scientists said in the journal.

So this is Christmas, and what have you Done?

OK, I have finally started getting excited about Christmas coming up...I haven't started any official decorating yet, but give me a couple of days and some signs of Christmas spirit will begin to show...On that note, I would just like to ask what the subject implies....What have you done this year? The couple decided to try one last time for the son they always wanted. After months of trying, the wife finally pregnant and sure enough, delivered a healthy baby boy nine months later..

The joyful father rushed into the nursery to see his new son. He took one look and was horrified to see the ugliest child he had ever seen. He went to his wife and told her there was no way he could be the father of that child. "Look at the two beautiful daughters I fathered!" Then he gave her a stern look and asked, "Have you been fooling around on me?" The wife just smiled sweetly and said, "Not this time!"

New Boating Law

Has anyone else heard about KY's new boating law...Apparently now, anytime that you launch a boat at a state park, you are now required to pay $3.00 everytime...but, they are working on the "honor" system...where you deposit your money in a box beside the ramp...this money in turn is used for upkeep of the launch...hmmm...I thought that is what our tax dollars went to...First, they start by charging for parking passes and now this...how much more money do they want from us? I understand and appreciate that they are trying to make things nice, but, for those of us who actually do things "legally" when dealing with our hunting and fishing practices, it is just driving us away...normally, I have the tendancy to buy my fishing license and take my trips to the lake...but, this year with increases in license and the whole crack down on paying the daily pass...I decided Incident

POSTED: 4:51 pm EST December 2, 2004

MEDINA, Ohio -- Medina County authorities pulled over an experienced high school teacher this week, but it was what the man was wearing inside his vehicle that raised some officer's eyebrows.

NewsChannel5's Jonathan Costen reported that a Medina Township officer pulled over the driver of a Jeep late Monday night for driving without headlights.

When the driver, Cloverleaf High School teacher Mark Wurstle, stepped out of the vehicle, he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, along with a pair of panties.

While his outfit wasn't breaking the law, police said he was driving under the influence.

Police may have been on the lookout for Wurstle because earlier that night he made a stop at a bar.

A bartender thought what she saw was funny, but she also thought she should give police a heads up.

Costen reported that this isn't the first time police pulled Wurstle over on a DUI charge.

Six years ago, Medina police pulled him over, and then, too, Wurstle was wearing a unique fashion.

An incident report states Wurstle had earrings, lipstick, rouge and blue eye shadow, and he was drinking vanilla extract.

When the officer asked if he was wearing any clothes, the report states, Wurstle opened his coat and showed him a black dress trimmed in white that went mid-thigh, along with a white pearl.

He was arrested for drunken driving.

The Cloverleaf school superintendent told NewsChannel5 that Wurstle is at school doing his job, and he's a 25-year veteran committed to the kids.

He also said the school system is conducting its own investigation to find out about the allegations.
News of the Weird

Stealing this idea from Joe @ emperorjoe.blogspot.com, I have decided to add themes to each day of the week in addition to my ramblings...From here on out, Thursday's are now set aside for News of the Weird...I will anounce each day what the days topic will be...Without further ado, here is your wierd news article:

$10,000 Martini....(from Yahoo! Oddly Enough)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Drinkers might want to keep a clear head when ordering a martini at New York's historic Algonquin Hotel or they might pay $10,000 for that cold sip.

The landmark hotel, where famed wit Dorothy Parker and fellow literary lights at the Round Table imbibed, offers a $10,000 martini, complete with a loose diamond at the bottom.

No one has ordered one yet, in the martini's first week on the menu, but the hotel hopes some romantic soul will buy one any day now.

"We haven't had any buyers yet, but a lot of people are talking about it," said Anthony Melchiorri, the hotel's general manager, on Wednesday.

The drink is designed to fit with tradition at the Algonquin, where Round Table members including Parker, writer Robert Benchley, playwright George S. Kaufman and "The New Yorker" magazine founder Harold Ross gathered regularly.

Today, Parker's ode to the martini adorns hotel napkins: "I love a martini -- but two at the most. Three I'm under the table; Four, I'm under the host."

Parker's response to the $10,000 martini might be mixed, the manager conceded.

"I think she would like the idea so long as she'd get to drink it," he said. "I don't think she'd care about the diamond, but she'd care about the martini."

Fear not, the manager added, no one can really order the martini by mistake. The tipple requires 72 hours' notice, and buyers meet with a jeweler to select a gem and with hotel staff to ensure the cocktail is delivered to the right table.

You want WHAT for Christmas?

As you may or may not have read yesterday pertaining to "Mixmas", today took the cake...My wife Tally, really enjoys this 94.5 Mixmas stuff...this morning on the say in to work, they announce the song "I want a hippopotomus for Christmas"....how stupid of a song can you get...I mean, I am a redneck guy so I can appreciate a good funny Christmas song like Montgomer Gentry's song "merry Christmas from the family" and various others along this line, but, do they play these there? Mix 94.5 has already brought out the "all Christmas Mixmas"...nothing but Christmas songs from the middle of November all the way through to Christmas...I don't know...It's not that I don't enjoy the Holidays, I just can't understand why people are in such a hurry to blow a years worth of savings on stuff that will only be put away in storage two weeks afterwards...I can appreciate the nature and the significance of the gift giving, but seriously, $300 for a game console? What does that have to do with Baby Jesus who was born in a stable? Before anyone thinks that I am being a Scrooge, come and see me in about two weeks and then I should be bubbling with Christmas spirit, but I will be putting it away around the 28th and not bringing it out again until sometime in the middle of Dec. 2005.......

Amazing

Believe it or not, the first post actually went through...so, where to start?
